Owned by Matt from Best of Show (BOS) Coachworks, this car was originally a plain Jane Mustang, with nothing particularly special about it at all. It was just a rusted-out shell with no engine, transmission, or anything. After a year, he came up with the plan to fit a 2011 Boss 302 engine and turn it into a pro-touring car.

The 1969 Boss 302 (top) and the 1970 edition (with optional Shaker hood) were slightly different. The '69 heads had enormous 2.23-inch intake valves, while the '70 had slightly less so, but still enormous, 2.19-inch intake valves. The steel crankshaft in the '69 was cross drilled, while in the '70 it wasn't.

33 posts · Joined 2008. #23 · Nov 6, 2008. There is no reason to find a 'real' Boss 302 for a 65-68 and you real only need to find a real Boss if your building a numbers matching 69-71 Boss Mustang. For all other pseudo Boss builds just use a 302 block and 4v Cleveland closed chamber heads. Much cheaper.
