Shadow of Chernobyl - just avoid the forest part altogether and shoot Monolithians along the road to the lab with GP-37/L-85 or anything with a scope, radiation drugs if you accidentally hit a radiation pocket. Getting through the barrier and into the main part of the Red Forest is just a straight-up firefight. There's no sneaky way through, you just need firepower and skill.

When you first enter the Red forest, open your map, you have 2 options: Follow the road to the destination. You'll fight mostly Monolith troopers here.
